Airport & Arrival
Airport & Arrival
Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX) is the primary airport serving Mexico City. Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are separate, so double-check your arrival terminal before coordinating transportation.
Most rides to Roma Norte, Condesa, or Polanco take approximately 30–45 minutes. Traffic can be unpredictable, so build in a little extra time.
Free Wi-Fi and ATMs are available in both terminals. When possible, use ATMs operated by major banks such as BBVA, Santander, or Citibanamex.
Important: Upon arrival in Mexico City, you may receive a receipt at immigration with a QR code. Take a photo of it and keep it somewhere safe, as you will need the QR code when departing Mexico.
Airport Transportation
Uber vs Taxi vs. Shuttle
Airport Transportation
Uber (Recommended)
Uber is safe, affordable, and widely used throughout Mexico City. We strongly recommend using Uber instead of hailing a taxi outside the airport. Cars in Mexico are generally smaller than their American counterparts, so if you're traveling with large bags or a group, consider booking an UberXL or SUV.
Approximate ride costs:
Airport → Roma Norte / Condesa: 300–500 MXN ($15–$25 USD)
Airport → Polanco: 350–600 MXN ($18–$30 USD)

Uber is by far the easiest way to get around the city, available anywhere and more reliable than hailing taxis. Most rides within central neighborhoods cost 80–300 MXN ($4–$15 USD) depending on distance and traffic.
We do not recommend the Metro for most first-time visitors. While it is extensive and inexpensive, Uber is generally the easier and more convenient option for getting around the city during a short visit. Didi is a trustworthy competitor.
